Julianna Smith

Research Assistant


Julianna Smith graduated in May 2020 from Arizona State University’s Barrett, The Honors College with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. She has worked as a research assistant with Dr. Robert Cook-Deegan on both the current Sulston Project as well as the initial Building the Medical Information Commons Project. She is currently working on a case study of the history of the BRCActivism community (including those with genetic risk and their supporters) and their expansive network of outreachand support communities on e-platforms that contribute to the BRCA gene variant data-sharing policy and research dialogue. Julianna has also served as the Student Director of Clinical Operations for SHOW (Student Health Outreach for Wellness), a student-run, free clinic that provides services to vulnerable populations in Phoenix. She will be attending Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in July.
