Amy McGuire, JD, PhD, is the Leon Jaworski Professor of Biomedical Ethics andDirector of the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College ofMedicine (BCM). As centerdirector, she oversees ethics education for medical,graduate, and allied health students and residents at BCM, administers clinicalconsultation services at hospitals throughout the Texas Medical Center, andrecently established a new health policy program. Her research focuses onethical and policy issues in genomics and human genetics, with a particularfocus on genomic research and the clinical integration of emergingtechnologies. She is an alumnus of the Greenwall Faculty Scholar Program in Bioethicsand is currently a member of the Program’s Advisory Committee. Hercurrent research projects investigate the ethics and psychosocial impact ofclinical genomics, barriers to clinical integration of next-generation sequencingtechnologies, and the policy questions surrounding genetic data sharing. Herprojects are funded by the NIH-NHGRI, NCI, and NICHD. She received her BA inpsychology from the University of Pennsylvania, her JD from the University ofHouston, and her PhD from the Institute for Medical Humanities at Universityof Texas Medical Branch.
